Model U.N. Team Honored

Over the weekend, the nine-member Grace High School Model U.N. team participated in the Empire Model United Nations Conference at N.Y.U. and were awarded the Outstanding Small Delegation Award. Several students earned individual honors in their respective committees as well. Duncan H. ‘19 received Honorable Mention, Jack L. ’19 received an Outstanding Delegate award, and Michael A. ‘19 received a Best Delegate award & Ceremonial Gavel.
Michael A. ’19 described his experience at the conference. “The M.U.N. conference hosted at N.Y.U. is one of the best in the city. The group did extremely well, and I am proud of everyone's performance. This conference was definitely our best one yet.

“I am very proud of how far the team has come,” said Grace Model U.N. advisor, Emmy Kuo. “Every single student remained committed and focused over the entire 4-day conference.”

Jack L. ’19 brought a lot of passion to the conference. "The key to my success was opposing others, staying true to my character, and figuring out creative solutions. As for the team, we all put in an extreme amount of devotion over the past four days and were engaged throughout the conference."

The Model U.N. team will participate in several more conferences throughout the school year. This is the fourth year that the High School team has competed in conferences. Grace has had a competitive Middle School Model U.N. team for nearly a decade, which competes against high school programs. This year the Middle School team has already competed at conferences held at Bronx Science and Horace Mann.
