What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is our institutional priority and one of the most powerful ways to sustain and enrich the Grace experience for all students. We ask the entire community — parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends of the school — to participate.

Funds raised are budgeted for in our annual operating expenses and provide immediately accessible dollars that have led to partnerships with leading cultural institutions; support robust offerings in the arts and sports; enable GCS to attract top faculty and staff; and make technology and campus upgrades. The Annual Fund gives GCS flexibility and ensures that all students continue to learn and grow with joy.

Is the Annual Fund the best way to support Grace?

Yes! The Annual Fund is our most important source of funding. Not only is the Annual Fund part of the school’s operating budget, but the dollars raised are also immediately accessible and unrestricted. This flexibility allows the school to act quickly as opportunities and needs arise, ensuring the most comprehensive educational experience for all students.

When should I make my gift?

Our fiscal year runs from July 1-June 30. Because the Annual Fund is part of our annual operating budget and donations are immediately accessible, giving early maximizes Grace’s ability to continue providing the best education for every student.

What does the Annual Fund support?

The Annual Fund supports all aspects of educating our students and running the school. This includes:

  • Developing new curricula
  • Technology and campus upgrades
  • Professional development opportunities for faculty and staff
  • Programming (ex: partnerships with leading cultural institutions and field trips, robust offerings in the arts and athletics)
  • Faculty and Staff salaries and benefits
  • And so much more!

How much should I give?

The Annual Fund
When planning your support of Grace, we ask that you make the Annual Fund your philanthropic priority and give at the level that you are comfortable. This is a community-wide effort, and no gift is too small. The Annual Fund has a twofold goal: financial and participation. Every tax-deductible gift unites the community and shows belief in the mission, values, and future of Grace Church School.

Does my participation in the Annual Fund really matter?

Absolutely. Each gift impacts the school’s ability to continue providing the best education possible for every student. High participation rates demonstrate the a commitment to each other and show prospective families and foundations the strength of the GCS community.

I receive Financial Aid. Will giving to the Annual Fund count against me? Wouldn’t my gift just give the school back the money it gives my family?

We ask all families to contribute to the Annual Fund at the level they are comfortable. Contributing demonstrates belief in Grace - our community, our values, and ultimately each other - and makes a big difference in participation rates. Gifts to the Annual Fund do not affect financial aid packages.

Are donations to the Annual Fund tax-deductible?

Yes, Grace Church School is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization under the Federal IRS code. All contributions are tax deductible. After donating, you will receive an acknowledgement letter stating your gift amount, date of gift, and a disclosure that no goods or services were provided.

Can my employer match my gift to the Annual Fund?

Most likely, yes. Many employers offer matching gift programs which effectively doubles the amount of a donation made by an employee or their spouse. Grace credits the donor for the total gift. Click here to find out if your employer has a matching gift program.

Can I make a pledge now and pay later?

If you would like to make a pledge and pay out your Annual Fund gift over the course of our fiscal year, you are welcome to do so. On our giving page, you will see an option to make a pledge.

We also have many folks who set up monthly giving (or other intervals). This is a great way to make your Annual Fund gift in installments, and allows you to “set it and forget it” so that you don’t have to remember to make your payment each month.

If you need assistance, please contact the Advancement Office at (212) 475-5609.
