The application process takes place during the fall, one year before the student wishes to enter. Applications for the 2018-19 school year will open September 4, 2017. We look forward to receiving your application.

Junior Kindergarten applicants must be 4 years old and Kindergarten applicants must be five years old by September 1 of the year in which they will be entering the school.

  • 1. Apply Online

    Applications for 2017-18 will open on September 4, 2017. During open enrollment, login to our online portal to submit an appication. 48 hours after your application has been processed, you will be able to access all supplementary forms needed to complete your enrollment. 
    • The $75 application fee is waived for perspective students applying for financial aid. 
    • We will contact you to arrange an interview and tours (limited after the December 1 deadline). 
  • 2. Transcripts

    Submit a transcript request to the applicant's current school. Forms are available on the online applicant portal
  • 3. Recommendations

    Invite a teacher recommendation through the online application portal. Schools should not send transcripts or recommendations before November, at the earliest, to give faculty time to know your child. Forms are available on the online application portal
         -JK, K, 1: File the appropriate ISAAGNY form no earlier than mid-November. 
         -Grades 2-4: File the appropriate ISAAGNY form no earlier than mid-November.
         -Grades 5-8: Submit two teacher recommendations from your current math and English teachers.
  • 4. Testing

    Arrange for the appropriate testing.
    Grades 2-4ECAA 
    Grades 5–8ISEE or SSAT
  • 5. Submit Graded Essay

    (Grades 5–8) – Applicants must submit a copy of a graded essay with the teacher's comments visible. The essay should not be a creative writing paper; it may be selected by the student from a current English or history class. This essay should be uploaded via the online application portal.
  • 6. Submit Original Essay

    (Grades 5-8) - Applicants must submit an essay of up to 500 words from a choice of prompts available on the online application portal

Admissions Policies

Siblings, children of legacies who have attended Grace Church School, staff/faculty of Grace Church School, and Grace Church members of at least 3 years standing receive preference at the Junior Kindergarten entry level only.

Depending upon grade placement, parents will be notified of acceptances for the next academic year from February to early March according to the dates specified by the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Please note that these notification and reply dates apply to application files that are completed by Friday, January 13, 2017.
