Sixth Graders Organize Mother's Day Charity Drive

Ahead of Mother’s Day, sixth grade advisories worked together to support survivors of domestic violence. Led by Middle School Teacher Leslie Peña-Racli, students contributed five boxes of personal care items to a charitable drive organized by The Harrington Park Junior Women’s Club.
With students’ help, the service organization was able to donate 46 baskets of care items to The Center for Hope and Safety, a nonprofit organization that supports survivors of domestic violence and their families by offering low-cost housing, child services and legal advocacy.

In addition to projects like the one organized by Grade 6 advisories and Ms. Peña-Racli, students take part in service projects throughout their time in school to become more engaged community members. To learn more about service learning at Grace, please click here.
