Winter Series

Each year, high school students direct, produce, and perform their own work as part of the Grace Theatre Company’s (GTC) Winter Series. 

This year, GTC staged three short plays from All in the Timing by David Ives and premiered an original play, Echoes Between the Branches, written by Toren S. ’26.

From All in the Timing, Micah W. ’26 directed Words, Words, Words, a witty exploration of the philosophical notion that three monkeys typing for eternity might eventually produce Hamlet. Bradford S. ’26, typically found onstage, brought his experience as an actor to directing The Philadelphia and deftly shaped the production with a performer’s insight. Apollo K. ’26, drawing on their interest in Soviet history, directed Variations on the Death of Trotsky, drawing sharp attention to the elements of historical satire.

Toren’s Echoes Between the Branches made a bold and heartfelt stage debut. As Toren describes it, the play began with the questions, “How do we interact with authority, and how do we reclaim creativity?” From those questions grew a moving story about a young artist mending his heart and rediscovering his sense of purpose—with the help of a magical forest.

Each distinctive production invited laughter, reflection, and enthusiastic applause from the audience. Bravo to the hard work of this talented group of students.
