Grace’s libraries are staffed by skilled librarians who work alongside students and teachers to support research, foster a love of reading, and connect learning across every discipline.
Grace has two libraries—one at each campus—and both are central to the intellectual life of the school. From the Stokes Library at 86 Fourth Avenue, which serves our JK–8 community, to the Library Information Center at the heart of the high school at 46 Cooper Square, our libraries are staffed by skilled librarians who work alongside students and teachers to support research, foster a love of reading, and connect learning across every discipline. Current students and families can visit GraceNet to search the vast collections housed in each library as well as our digital resources.
The Stokes Library at 86 Fourth Avenue houses a print collection of over 14,500 volumes alongside a full ebook collection accessible through any device, including e-readers available for borrowing. Set across five rooms with traditional woodwork and marble fireplaces, the library is a welcoming space for reading, research, and collaborative work. Desktop computers and Chromebooks are available for student use. JK–4 students attend library classes to develop foundational library and research skills, while middle school students use the library for research and quiet study.
The Library Information Center sits at the heart of the high school at 46 Cooper Square, offering a sunlit, open-plan space that accommodates individual, small-group, and class work. In addition to its print and digital collections, the LIC is home to the Reference Information Center (RIC), where students can meet one-on-one with librarians for intensive research guidance and readers advisory. Librarians work closely with teachers to embed information literacy skills in classroom projects and lessons—and co-teach Digital Tools and Citizenship with the Technology Department for ninth and tenth graders. Librarians are available in the LIC and RIC before and after school throughout the week.
