Student Support
At Grace, support is proactive and a feature of how we teach every child, every day. We are a general education school, and our commitment is to ensure that all of our students are supported and challenged throughout their time here.
Our instructional practices are grounded in scientific evidence about how children learn, which means that strong, differentiated teaching is the norm rather than the exception. In the Middle School, a dedicated student support team—comprising a literacy specialist, a learning specialist, and a counselor—works closely with the division head, subject area teachers, and specialists to monitor the progress of every student. All are available to consult with families at any time.
Support is provided primarily in the classroom or in small group settings, woven naturally into the rhythm of the school day. When a student would benefit from more targeted assistance, short-term individualized support is available at the recommendation of the division head or the guidance committee. In all cases, transparent communication with families is central to our approach. We believe that when school and home are in close partnership, every student is better positioned to do the hard, rewarding work of learning.
Beyond the classroom, two after-school programs extend the support and enrichment available to middle school students. The Learning Lab, open to all students on a drop-in basis Monday through Wednesday, provides structured support in mathematics, reading, writing, and organization in a small group setting—a resource for any student who wants additional help or simply a focused place to work. For students who are ready for additional challenge, Math Lab Enrichment offers an opportunity to engage with advanced mathematical problems and competitions alongside peers who share their passion for the subject.
