Griffins Go to the FIRST LEGO League Qualifier

This winter, Grace’s Middle School Robotics Team traveled to the NYC FIRST LEGO League Qualifier Tournament in Staten Island, competing alongside teams from across the city.
This year’s competition theme, Unearthed, challenged teams to tackle real problems facing archaeologists in the field. Grace’s team rose to the occasion, designing an Innovation Project prototype to help archaeologists catalogue and document their findings and programming a LEGO Spike Prime robot to complete a series of archaeology-inspired technical challenges.
Though the team didn’t take home an award this year, they returned more experienced, knowledgeable, and confident than ever—skills they will definitely bring to future challenges in the seasons ahead. Chloe K. ’29, Bowen M. ’32, Damian L. ’33, William C. ’33, and Otto A. ’32 represented Grace with creativity and curiosity, guided by their coaches, Ms. Dvorkin and Dr. Ali.
We’re proud of these young engineers and can’t wait to see what they build next!
