Southwest Weiyu Middle School Visits Grace
GCS welcomed a delegation of 16 students and four teachers from Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School in February. Each year the exchange presents exciting opportunities for learning, but this year was particularly celebratory as their visit marked the 10th year of our China exchange program.
In their week-long visit, our guests stayed with host families, attended classes and school functions, and took in sights around New York City. A ping-pong tournament between schools was a favorite event for everyone, including Mr. Davison who could not resist picking up a paddle and joining in.
Grace students and teachers were impressed by how well the Southwest Weiyu students spoke English, which made for engaging classroom activities and easy socializing among the students. Although a few host students felt the time was too short, they remarked that the week was unforgettable and an inspiration to join the Grace International Exchange trip to China next year.
The visit ended with a farewell dinner for our guests and their host families. The Southwest Weiyu students expressed gratitude for such a wonderful experience and were impressed with the confidence and leadership that the Grace students showed.
