Parent Commitment

There are many opportunities for parents to meet and discuss how race, gender, sexuality, and other identifiers impact their experience as families and as parents.  Our more informal ‘coffee chat’ space is designed to allow parents to share their thoughts and meet others from every division at Grace. You’ll see listings for speakers, film screenings, and other events that parents can volunteer to help organize. Finally, our Diversity Council is open to parents as well.

Parent Diversity Groups

List of 4 items.

  • Book Club

Each year the Diversity Council selects 3-4 books to read and discuss. These include fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and all revolve around exploring diversity, identity, education, and social justice.
  • Diversity Coffee Chat Series

Parents from all divisions are welcome to join our casual coffee chat space, where we both open the floor to sharing experiences, and occasionally have guests lead discussions. This is a safe space to gain support and understanding about our diverse experiences as adults at GCS.
  • Parent Gay-Straight Alliance

Parents who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies are welcome to join this discussion group to provide support, share ideas about community education, and promote community awareness.
  • Parents of Diverse Cultural Backgrounds

The mission of PoDCB is to provide additional support for families of color, throughout their children’s academic career at Grace Church School. By recognizing the needs of children of color (students of diverse cultural backgrounds) at GCS this group will provide supplemental support for children of color and their families through various programming.
