Junior Kindergarten Students Explore The Natural World One Page at a Time

Of her weekly time with the JK, Ms. Chaloner noted, "Connecting our newest students to stories about scientists, animals, and the natural world feels like a vaccine against cynicism. Their inventive questions and infectious curiosity always make my week."

 

According to the National Science Teachers Association, research demonstrates that “Young children develop science understanding best when given multiple opportunities to engage in science exploration and experiences through inquiry." By sharing picture books and stories, we hope to introduce students to new ideas and perspectives that help them expand their understanding of the world around them and encourage them to ask questions about its many wonders.
