Green Griffins Lead the Way

Grace once again topped the list of schools in New York City in the EPA's list of the largest green power users among all K-12 schools! A participant in the Green Power Partnership Program, Grace also ranks #6 nationally.
Per the EPA, "As of October 24, 2022, the combined annual green power use of EPA’s Top 30 K-12 Schools amounts to nearly 100 million kilowatt-hours of green power, which is equivalent to the annual electricity use of more than 9,000 average American homes."

Dean of Faculty Kim Chaloner highlights the importance of this certification. "Grace looks for opportunities to reduce our environmental impact in many aspects of school life. We have courses, clubs, adult groups, and events focused on climate and sustainability, but one of the most important actions city dwellers can take is to reduce the emissions created by heating and cooling their building. Grace's choice to use wind power sources is one of the best ways we can achieve this," she says.
