Grace Students and Teachers Attend NAIS Conferences

Grace students traveled to Seattle earlier this month to attend the 25th annual NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), a multiracial, multicultural gathering of American and international student leaders from grades 9 through 12.
Grace students traveled to Seattle earlier this month to attend the 25th annual NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), a multiracial, multicultural gathering of American and international student leaders from grades 9 through 12. The conference, which focuses on “self-reflection, forming allies and building community,” provided a platform for the six student leaders, and others in attendance, to develop their sense of cross-cultural understanding, craft effective strategies to enact social justice within their communities, and learn more about the foundations of allyship.

Also in Seattle were seven GCS teachers and staff escorts who attended the NAIS People of Color Conference (PoCC), an event dedicated to providing a safe space for the professional development and networking opportunities for educators and staff members of color working in independent schools.

Grace Church School has attended these conferences since the late nineties, and we look forward to continuing our participation as our community continues its commitment to cultivate mutual understanding, humility, respect, and kindness within our students.
