This is a list of suggested summer reading. Most of these authors have written other books from which you may choose. In Fifth grade you are required to read a minimum of six books over the summer. The six books include three of the following:
Crispin: the Cross of Lead, Avi The Shakespeare Stealer, Gary Blackwood The Seeing Stone, Kevin Crossly-Holland Catharine, Called Birdy, Karen Cushman Aladdin and Other Tales From the Arabian Nights, N.J. Dawood Knight's Castle, Edward Eager Adam of the Road, Elizabeth Gray A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver, E.L. Koningsburg Kite Rider, Geraldine McCaughrean A Single Shard, Linda Sue Park Parzival, Katherine Paterson Lady Knight, Tamora Pierce Men of Iron, Howard Pyle The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, Howard Pyle
And three other books from the rest of the list. Write the author, title, and a brief summary of the plot for the three books you pick from the required list. For all the other books you read over the summer, please keep a log with author and title. Reading log List in PDF format :
