Letter from Alumni/ae Chair, Spring 2007 GCS News

Dear Alumni/ae,

It's been a tremendous year at Grace Church School with the opening of the new gymnasium and the renovation of the lobby area. The Alumni/ae Association also made great strides this year as we re-connected with graduates of the school like never before.

A record number of alumni/ae turned out for this year's events: the High School Alumni/ae Party in the fall and the Alumni/ae Reunion Cocktail Party in May. We added two new events this year: an Alumni/ae Happy Hour for alums aged 22-27, and the Alumni/ae Games, an evening of basketball in the new gym. Also, for the first time, we invited alums to the Alumni/ae Speaker Series and several alums availed themselves of the opportunity when Amanda Rogers Mahoney '87 and Thomas Brasuell '74 spoke.

We made a special effort to reach out to our college-age alumni/ae this year. The first college directory (containing contact information for all college-age alums) went out in the fall, and we're planning a College Alumni/ae Networking Evening for December, where college-age alums will be able to hear from a panel of older alums about different careers.

Class agents made a massive effort to track down “lost alums” in 2006-07, and we reconnected with almost 100 people. Membership in our online directory is up nearly 10 percent and hundreds of alums now receive eGrace, our new alumni/ae e-newsletter. If you haven't signed up, please see the directions at the bottom of the page to learn how to register. It's the best way to receive information from the school and from your class agent(s).

We also made it easier for you to wear your GCS spirit on your sleeve. You can now buy GCS t-shirts, fleeces, bags and more online. Just go to the alumni/ae page of www.gcschool.org to check out the merchandise.

Thank you to all who helped with the Alumni/ae Committee's activities this year. For those alums who would like to become more involved with their alma mater, we welcome everyone's input at our Alumni/ae Association meetings in 2007-08.

Wishing you a terrific summer,

Evan Silverman '85

Chair, Alumni/ae Association
