Grace Students Invited to Play in NYC Honor Band
Three Grace students, two Juniors and one Sophomore, were invited to participate in the inaugural Independent School Music Association Honors Jazz Ensemble.
Eva Burgos ‘17, Joey Fox ‘17 and Sam Spector ‘18 performed at Berkeley Carroll last weekend as a part of the first with students from 13 other high schools, the student musicians played under the direction of John Fedchock, a Grammy-nominated arranger and one of NYC's premiere jazz artists.
Instrumental Music Teacher Nick Kadajski remarked that, “Grace students were among some of the best high school musicians in NYC Independent schools. Being invited is a great opportunity to learn from and with these other great players. With only two rehearsals before the performance, it was a lot of hard, focused work, and it was impressive how quickly the students were able to put together a great sounding program in such a short time.”
