Senior Class Leader Wows at Closing Exercises

The last week of school is a time for reflection and celebration. In each of our closing exercises for the 2014-15 school year students, faculty and administrators offered inspiring words. One speech in particular from Senior Class Leader Winston Simone really captured the spirit of our growing school.
Below are Winston's brief but thoughtful remarks.

Good morning Mr. Davison, Mr. Mahabir, faculty, parents, friends, and my fellow members of the Class of 2016,

In September of 2012,  even though we were only brand-new freshmen, we dreamed.

We saw more than a construction site and an empty building at 46 Cooper Square. When we toured the school, through our eyes we saw only plans and designs, but through our imaginations, we saw our futures.

When we look back on the past three years, we know that we have been fully prepared to continue the commitment to excellence in academics, athletics and the arts that began in 1894, more than one hundred years ago. It is here in the glorious present that we lay the foundation for the next one hundred years. And though this is a lofty task, we are not afraid.

In the Fall, the Class of 2016 will lead a full 46 campus with a high school four grades strong. And in the Spring, we will be the very first graduating class of this illustrious institution. We are ready. We are Seniors. We are Grace Church School.

Thank you.
